Long DescriptionThe exothermic welding process is a method of making electrical connections of copper to copper or copper to steel in which no outside source of heat or power is required. In this process, granular metals (granular copper oxide and aluminium) are placed from a container into a graphite crucible and ignited. This process is a cost effective method of completing a high quality electrical connection and is also simple to follow. The exothermic welding process is a method of making electrical connections of copper to copper or copper to steel in which no outside source of heat or power is required. This process is a cost effective method of completing a high quality electrical connection and is also simple to follow. The thermal/time characteristic of MDIs monitors the most economic use of cable and transformers. The directly heated bimetal element indicates mean r.i.s current over 8, 15 or 20 mins. A red slave pointer shows highest value reached and has a wire sealable reset knob. The optional saturating C.T. limits the power into the MDI and is used where a protection relay is connected in series from the same C.T. Scales are calibrated to match the C.T. plus 20% overload (e.g. 0-5-6-A).
