The DIP switches can be in an “on” or “off” state while each pin connected to the MCU GPIO pins and offers the possibility to rearrange the feature set at a later day without hardware modifications. There is no need to restart the switch, while setting changes of the DIP switches, and it takes effective immediately. SFP speed settings do require a restart to become effective.
